Message from Michell: Engagement Survey and Safe to Speak sessions
Colleagues,
As you may recall, during a recent Town Hall meeting we discussed a few issues the Chair and Governor Powell identified as Boardwide issues. One of those issues is Safe to Speak. As a next step to the engagement survey, we have the opportunity to participate in anonymous survey sessions led by our Organizational Development and Learning (OD&L) team in Human Resources.
You will soon receive an e-mail from Annita Cox, our ODL partner, that will provide background information and the sign-up process for these sessions beginning in mid-May. We’re hoping for maximum participation in these sessions so please sign up early. These anonymous survey sessions will build upon information we learned from the engagement survey, so I strongly encourage you to continue to speak up and let your voice be heard until every employee feels it is “safe to speak”. Also, see Don Hammond’s article on Inside the Board.
MGT survey results show that less than half of you (39%) consider it “safe to speak.” I was surprised (and yes, a little disappointed) that we didn’t poll higher and would welcome further clarification on the root causes of the reluctance to speak up. I firmly believe that your candid views on operations and management strengthen the division’s performance and improve our work/life balance. Please make every effort to attend your session.
If you have any questions about the anonymous survey sessions, please contact Annita Cox.
Make it a GREAT Day!!!!
-Michell Clark
