Message from Michell: Thinking strategically and achieving our objectives
Management Division Team,
This month I’ve been spending time in strategic planning meetings with the leaders of our division. Together we’re working through the process of prioritizing our projects and resources, and developing a list of the most important objectives that we need to accomplish to successfully meet our responsibilities in 2016-20.
As we think ahead, I want to take a moment to celebrate just a few of our recent successes by highlighting some cross-cutting projects that bridged from 2014 into 2015:
- As we continue work on 1801K Street, more than 300 employees have moved into our space there. This project has involved participation from groups in all of our branches. The level of detail and teamwork required to deliver this space has been a game changer in our history, and our customers have expressed very real appreciation for how far we’ve come in terms of service. Construction and moves will continue through June and I’m confident we’ll meet and surpass the high bar that we’ve set for ourselves. (See more about this project on ItB and in the most recent Board Insider video.)
- Divisions—including our own—are in the process of sharing the engagement survey results with their employees. This first-ever Boardwide survey would not have been possible without the support of several MGT sections. And we continue to play a role by helping divisions understand and communicate their results, and develop the most effective action plans. We are also doing the same within the Division, the engagement champions are currently organizing focus groups to get more in-depth feedback from you. If you receive an invitation, I hope you will take part. (See our division’s results on the MGT website.)
- Technology Services and HR have been working together to bring new features and services to our HR systems. Their latest projects include automating the way the Benefits help desk serves callers and, next month, launching additional online features to help employees find answers to their benefits, data, records, disability, and leave questions. ASAP also worked with DFM on implementing the paycheck modeler, which helps employees estimate the effect of pay or withholding changes to their paycheck’s bottom line.
These are high-profile projects that touch every employee at the Board. Our teams also are managing a multitude of other projects that may not get as much attention, but still are critical to providing legendary service to our Board customers. We have a lot of important work to do, and I thank each one of you for all you do to fulfill our commitments.
I and the leadership team will be sharing more details about strategic planning and engagement over the coming weeks. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to come to any of us with your questions and concerns. We want your feedback, and look forward to your continued active role in achieving our division’s objectives.
Make it a GREAT Day!!!!
