Our Story

Nick & Joyce

We met online through eHarmony and after a few emails and friendly phone conversations, we met in-person on April 2, 2009 in Bethesda, MD for a dinner date.

After our first successful date, we continued to spend more time together in both Maryland and Virginia.

Then after almost a year of dating, we decided to take a big trip to Italy for our 1st year anniversary. The trip was unforgettable with so many wonderful memories, especially making the best out of our extra week there when we got stranded due to a volcano erruption.

Shortly after our trip, we mutually expressed interest in living together and in September 2010, Joyce moved to Arlington, VA to live with Nick in the Shirlington neighborhood.

Then 8 months later, in May 2011, we went on a trip to Williamsburg, VA with Joyce's family (mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law) for a long weekend and a half marathon race. Nick thought it would be a great idea to have a nice dinner at the Trellis in Colonial Williamsburg. After dinner was over, Joyce recalls, I asked Nick what he thought was my favorite part of the dinner and then Nick asked me in return and I kept guessing and eventually he pulled out a small box and opened it and said "this was my favorite part." I was so surprised and said, "Really!" and then Nick asked me to marry him. The rest is... well you know... We're getting married!

We both decided that Williamsburg was a perfect location for our wedding because it is a special place for Joyce's family and where we got engaged, and also a great midpoint location and destination for friends and family to visit.
