Colleagues,

In my past two monthly messages (February and March), I’ve encouraged you to take part in engagement survey focus groups to share your input on how to improve the work environment. More than 100 people participated in five sessions. We now have more than 70 poster sized pages of data that the engagement champions and my leadership team are reviewing.

You will receive more detailed results from Gina Lewis, the HR business partner assigned to assist our division, on the division website next week, but briefly I’d like to call out a couple themes that we are seeing:

  • You want more information and a better understanding of and context for decisions and policies. You also want us to be more transparent when some decisions don’t work and what we learned from our failures.
  • You would like to know more about the officers in the division as well as more opportunities to interact with them.
  • You want more and better communication with your manager, especially about development opportunities, and you want to share your knowledge and feedback in return.
  • You like the new 3Cs process and feel it’s an improvement over the PMP process; however it is clear that both managers and employees still have a way to go with understanding and getting the most from the 3Cs process.

Please know that my leadership team and I are committed to working together to comprehend your input and address the issues raised and areas for improvement. My goal is to identify one or two action plans that we will implement to help improve our division’s work environment. I plan to share the action plans with you following the next scheduled MGT officers meeting on May 8.

Make it a GREAT Day!!!!
